How do Christians respond to the many deceptions that surround us? Do we give us even though we know the truth? Does love trump truth? Are we to be tolerant of other people’s beliefs and believe them ourselves. I think that even the short book of 2 John tells us all we need to know. Love and truth do go together. You can lovingly tell people that they are wrong and even sinful. This is not intolerance. This is how Jesus dealt with sin when he walked the earth. Paul (who I did not mention in my message) is another example. He says, in 1 Cor 9:22, “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” This is not compromise or tolerance, it is truth lived out in love. Paul did not change who he was or what he believed. But he loved others in truth.
