Craft Weekend

The craft weekend took place on February 8-10, 2019

This was a great weekend where women from around the community had three fun filled, productive days of sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking.  More weekends like this are in the planning stages.  When the dates and times become available, they will posted on this page, so keep checking back for more updates.

(The following is the original information for the Feb 8-10 Craft Weekend. A similar event is in the planning stages and dates will be forthcoming.)

This is a weekend where you can come and work on your craft projects. That includes scrapbooking, sewing, cards, gifts, crocheting, knitting and more! You will have your own table to work on and a chair will be provided. However, you can bring your own table and chair if you want.

When

The weekend starts at 9 am on Friday, February 8 and goes until 4 pm on Sunday, February 10. You can work on your crafts for as long as you want each day and are free to come and go as you would like. Although it is not required, I would invite you to join me for church on Sunday from 10:30-11:30.

Where

The weekend is at Groveland Missionary Church, 5043 Queenwood Road in Groveland, IL. If you are traveling, you are free to sleep in the church at no extra cost to you. You can also find local hotels in East Peoria and Pekin that are roughly 10 minutes from the church, at your own expense. If you are local, you can sleep at home or stay at the church!

Cost

There is NO COST to come!
So this can be a FREE event, you will be responsible for bringing something for a meal. You can either get together with a few friends and plan your own meal or I can help assign you to a team. For that meal time, you will prepare your food, set up the food and clean up the kitchen when done, including the dishes. There are two ovens, a refrigerator, freezer, ice machine, two dishwashers and a microwave for our use. Please bring all the dishes you’ll need like a crockpot, baking dish and cookie sheet as the Church dishes vary.
By January 15, I will have a rough idea of how many people will be coming to this event and will be able to tell you the number of people to plan for. Coffee and ice water are provided at all meals. If you want something else, you’ll need to bring it with you. Please also bring a snack to share that is peanut-allergy safe to put on our snack table.

Supplies

You will need to bring all your supplies to work on the craft(s) you are doing. There will be an iron and ironing board, table to cut fabric with scissors and a 12” cricut with mat provided. Please be sure to pack extension cords for your own machines as you might not be right next to an outlet.   Since the lighting can be difficult for some, you may want to bring with you a small table lamp or floor lamp. As the temperature is hard to regulate, you may want to bring layers of clothing. You will also need to bring any bedding and linens you will need if you are staying at the church. We do have one shower for your use. You will need to bring your own towels. In addition, you may want to bring a small fan to turn on for noise.
In case you forget something or don’t want to bring groceries with you, we have a Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Target, Aldi, Dollar Tree, Kroger, Starbucks and a variety of restaurants only 10 minutes away, in either Pekin or East Peoria.

Registration

To register for this weekend, you will need to fill out the registration form Scrap Weekend Resignation Form and return it to me by January 15, 2019. I have space for 40 women, so there is lots of room for you to invite a friend! Come for the whole time or just one day, it’s up to you.
